Denise Jacon Church was elected to the Town Council in 2013. She is the chair of the Petersburgh Emergency Preparedness Commitee and serves as liaison for the Town office support staff. Since 1998, Denise is Petersburgh's representative on the Rennselaer County Enviromental Management Council. She previously served on the board of the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center and as a Town Council representative for the Petersburgh Youth Program Committee. Denise is currently the Chair of the Petersburgh Democratic Committee and a member of the Rensselaer County Democratic Committee. Recently, she was appointed to the RCDC's Executive Committee to represent Petersburgh, Stephentown, Berlin and Hoosick Falls.
Denise is a New York State Civil Service employee and previously worked at Williams College for 16 years. Born in Troy and raised in East Schodack, Denise has lived in Rennselaer County most of her life. Denise's husband, Tim Church, is a lifelong resident of Petersburgh. Denise moved to Petersburgh 20 years ago to join Tim as they raised their blended family. Denise and Tim have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. In addition to her family and community activities, Denise's interests include rock and blues music; painting; crafts; cooking; reading (particularly political and rock music history); Nascar; and RV'ing.
